Coastal Cleanup Day 2026 Success
This year's Coastal Cleanup day was an incredible success! On September 19th, 2026, the Friends of Ballona Wetlands were joined by over 60 volunteers to remove trash from the Ballona Creek. It was a day filled with passionate individuals giving their time to make a difference for our beautiful coast.
With the help of our volunteers, we removed a total of 380 pounds of trash from the creek. Between the pounds of to-go containers and plastic straws, we unearthed interesting items including tennis balls, eye patches, shoes, and Squishmallows!
Coastal Cleanup Day is an international day of action to protect our oceans, watersheds, and wildlife from debris and plastic pollution. The Friends teamed up with Heal the Bay and the California Coastal Commission to support Los Angeles' efforts to support our coastline and the wildlife that depend on our waterways. We also want to thank the California Department of Fish and Wildlife team members who helped ensure we had a safe and effective event.
We hope to see you at our upcoming Ballona Creek Cleanups and next year's Coastal Cleanup Day!
