Sponsor our 9th Annual Migration Celebration on May 31st from 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M.
at Ballona Discovery Park: 13110 Bluff Creek Drive, Playa Vista 90094

This free and fun event for the whole family includes a variety of activities for participants to enjoy! Check out the gallery below for more details.

Become a Conservation Champion by sponsoring the amphitheater!

Support the Live Raptor Show- the busiest time in the amphitheater, and for good reason! We host Raptor Events- trained raptor presenters to share their love and knowledge of raptors with our audience. The shows typically features live birds which fly around and perform tricks for the audience! This activity is always a hoot- and not just because they typically bring an owl!

Support the Bob Baker Marionette Show- an Angeleno childhood classic! We host the Bob Baker Marionette Theater for a special showing of some of their very best marionettes! They have something for every kid and kid at heart with dancers, animals, and even some plants! This show is always sure to wow the audience with its exciting music and colorful puppets!

Become an Avian Advocate by sponsoring a booth!

Sponsor the Tidal Touch Tank- the best place to interact with some of the creatures you’d see out in the ocean! We work with Traveling Tidepools to bring their awesome educational touch tank to Ballona Discovery Park where they share information about all the different tidal creatures like sea stars and coral.

Sponsor Grow Native!- this booth follows one of our biggest programs- Grow Native! We want to encourage people to grow native plants in their homes and gardens to bring back the biodiversity of Los Angeles! We have plant experts at the booth ready to answer gardening questions and sell beautiful native plants for participants to take home. This booth is always well attended by adults looking to start their own native gardening journey!

Sponsor Face Painting- this booth is pure fun for everyone! Kids and adults alike have a great time having nature reflected on their faces! Through painting rainbows, butterflies, caterpillars, spiders, hummingbirds, and more, we are able to share some of the inhabitants of the wetlands in a unique way!

Sponsor the Nature Game Zone- support one of the ways we introduce kids to bigger science topics, through play! In this station kids learn about the importance of a healthy habitat and what happens to creatures if there is habitat loss. This station is always one of the best attended and has space for adults to sit as their kids enjoy the game. This could be a good option for a sponsor to help out with the game and become part of the fun at this event!

Sponsor the Restoration Game- warm up your throwing arm and knock out some invasive species with us! In this game people learn some common invasive species found at the wetlands and help knock them out! This activity is fun for everyone and we see tons of people coming back to give it another try, just like people return to Ballona to volunteer and help us remove these invasive plants!

Sponsor the Arts and Crafts Tables- the first thing participants see as they walk in the event! This booth is over the picnic tables that exit permanently in the park, giving people the best spot to take a rest and enjoy some up close and personal time with some of Ballona’s pollinators! Whether they’re painting a bird or a bee, kids enjoy making these decorative wood hangings and have them as a keepsake of a day of fun with the Friends.

Sponsor Live Music- setting the tone for the event! Part of what makes this event so inviting is hearing excitement from inside the park as you pass by, and part of that has to do with the jazz musicians we have hired to play at this event for years! These two play classics and new jazz, making the event feel even more friendly!

Sponsor the Bird Research and Responsible Trail Use Booth- reminding people of the work we do to ensure the wetlands are taken care of and able to be enjoyed for generations! This booth is run by interns from our science program who have participated in bird nest monitoring, plant care, and more at Ballona, and this is an awesome opportunity for them to share what they’ve learned with our audience!

Sponsor Bird Watching Basics- Inspired by our Beginner Birding and Birding with Bob public tours, we now have a birding basics section at Migration Celebration! For this booth, we have a spotting scope, binoculars, and bird guides to borrow. People can learn more about the beautiful birds they see in the park and beyond at this unique booth!
