John and Nancy Edwards - Ruth Lansford Legacy Award
John and Nancy Edwards are residents of Playa Del Rey. They have lived in the Playa Del Rey and El Segundo area for the past 35 years. They raised their son Michael in El Segundo and now Michael is raising his family there as well.
John and Nancy are passionate about the environment, nature, the military, mental health and education. They believe in giving back to the community and want to leave this planet a better place for their grandchildren, godchildren and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
Nancy is retired but knew she wanted to still be of value to her community and so serves on four very different Boards. She hopes her dedication to serve will inspire her family and others to follow in her footsteps.
After years of working to help the vulnerable Medi-Cal population with unique and innovative practices, that benefited many chronically ill patients, John is winding down and will soon join Nancy in retirement. John believes that the John and Nancy Edwards Family Foundation (JANEFF) is a means by which to insure that our world is a better place by supporting many non-profit organizations.
Of the dozens of charities that receive help from JANEFF, those that received $25,000.00 or more are listed in alphabetical order:
· Airport Marina Counseling Services
· American Red Cross
· Aquarium of the Pacific
· Friends of Ballona Wetlands
· Heal the Bay
· The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles
· The USO
· Vet Hunters Project
· Wounded Warriors Project
Of all the many accomplishments that John and Nancy have achieved none is more important than leaving a legacy of giving back!
